Hollywood High Withdraws Billboard Proposal

screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-10-34-18-amAs a follow up to our story on Hollywood High School considering a digital billboard, the LA Times is reporting that the proposal has been withdrawn.

Mike Feuer, the Los Angeles City attorney told school officials that installing a commercial billboard on school property would violate city law.

The principal of Hollywood High, Alejandra Sanchez, has withdrawn the proposal and it’s off the table, school district officials said.

The city attorney’s office made its case in a three-page letter accompanied by 29 pages outlining the city’s rules for signs.

Insider’s take – In our state, school districts are constantly looking for ways to increase revenue to make up for shortfalls from state and local funding. It will be interesting to watch how these proposals proceed if the budget gaps are not closed.  Would not be surprised to see a few of these cases going to litigation.
