Environmental Groups Use Outdoor To Promote Ideas

Insider recently saw two news items where environmental groups show they understand the power of messaging through OOH.

The first article is from The Register Guard who report that environmental groups are using outdoor advertising to promote their messages to the Interior Secretary as he addresses the Western Governors Association’s annual conference Tuesday in the town of Whitefish, Montana.

Included in the group will be the Montana Wilderness Association who will have five billboards in the area including this one below promoting leaving the Missouri River Breaks as a national monument.

On the other side of the country The Daily News reports that Save Ontario Shores has purchased billboard space to get their message to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.  The group is expressing their concern about  the impact a planned 200-megawatt wind energy system will have on a previously-endangered air base and are using that to   become a politically potent part of Save Ontario Shores’ appeal against Apex Clean Energy’s Lighthouse Wind project.

Here is their billboard messaging.

Insider’s take – As much as Scenic America rails against outdoor advertising, a large portion of the non-profit world understands the value of a well placed message in getting out its message to key constituents.
