Digital Billboards Deliver Emergency Info in California

By Ken Klein, EVP Government Affairs, OAAA.

Heavy rains caused evacuation of 180,000 people in California in proximity to the Oroville Dam.

Donated digital billboards delivered emergency information, as shown here on the Mercury News website:

Three digital billboard faces used in the evacuation are owned by Stott Outdoor Advertising based in Chico, CA.

“It is quite humbling,” said Jim Moravec of Stott on Feb. 13, “to serve the public good in such a manner.”

Thousands noticed this emergency public service, including the office of Congressman Doug LaMalfa, R-CA, which expressed thanks for the fast posting on digital billboards.

LaMalfa serves on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
