Lind Media operates 1,300 billboards in 27 Ohio and Indiana counties. Lind Screen Shot 2016-07-04 at 1.21.33 PMMedia was started in 1991 by John Siegenthaler. In November 2013 Lind Media acquired 200 billboards in SW Ohio from Peak Outdoor and in March 2016 Lind acquired 500 billboards in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati DMAs from Lamar.  In addition to the billboard business Lind has developed the innovative Lind SignSpring system for replacing the billboard vinyl strap system with a set of springs which allows for faster and easier vinyl changes.  You can read an article on the SignSprings system here.  Insider interviewed John Sigenthaler.

How did Lind enter the outdoor business?

Lind Media was organized as Lind Outdoor advertising in 1991 approximately 25 years ago.
Tell us about your plant.

Maura and John Siegenthaler are the principals and operate billboard networks primarily in Cleveland Columbus Cincinnati and Toledo DMA markets.

digital-2You acquired 500 signs in March 2016. How is the transition proceeding?

Very well. We picked up a broad mix of face sizes from 8-Sheet panels to 20 x 80 interstate offsets and everything in-between. Our team has done a remarkable job of quickly integrating the inventory into our system from a sales, operations and administrative standpoint.

Whose digital signs do you use and what have you learned?

We are currently using watchfire and just placed an order for two more units. We’ve been very happy with their service and in doing research I’ve also learned that the other major vendors also have a very strong record of client satisfaction.

Talk about your SignSprings system and the benefits it provides to a billboard company.

Screen Shot 2016-03-20 at 9.41.46 AMIt has been a remarkable advantage in that we have been able to double and triple our productivity per installer. Not only has it enabled us to switch our posting fleet from gas guzzling pick up trucks and vans to fuel-efficient SUVs, it also requires zero prep time as the billboard vinyls and PEs go directly from the shipping box to the billboard for immediate installation.  Not only do our billboards look flawless, we are able to compete with our national competitors in a very favorable way. Ironically they are now beginning to use the SignSpring system.
