Harmony Outdoor advertising operates a plant with 90 billboards in four counties in Western Pennsylvania.  The company  is a subsidiary of the family owned Eagle Media Corporation.  Eagle Media owns several Pennsylvania newspapers.  Harmony Outdoor has been in business since 1903 and was formerly Baron Billboards.  The firm is run by Vance Smith, a fifth generation family member.  The firm has 44 locations.  Most of the signs are 10 by 20 or 10 by 12.  Insider wonders by more newspapers haven’t entered the outdoor business.  There are no legal impediments (such as exist with radio) and the same sales force calls on potential advertisers.
