Discover Outdoor was started in 1993.  The company owns 200 faces and 3 digital billboards in Northeast Texas and Southeast Oklahoma.  Insider talked with  James Martinez   the company’s founder and President.

Princeton, McKinney, Greenville, Quinlan, Wills Point, Campbell, Sulphur Springs, Winnsboro, Mt Pleasant, Paris, Reno, Sun Vally, Clarksville, Commerce, Bonham, Trenton. With a new 10×40 Digital being installed in Bonham Texas near Wal Mart in the next 90 days.

Grant, Hugo, Idabel, Antlers Broken Bow, Hochatown, Calera and we are seeking More Oklahoma Growth in any part of the State. I only purchase perpetual easements. I have completely stopped on buying with any form of a ground lease.
Who’s digital signs do you use?
We use Formetco Products. TRULY Great products from Tri Visions, Solar off Grid, to Digital. They have mastered it. Do Not Purchase a Digital from a NON Reputable company with no service or that doesn’t answer the phone immediately.
What have you learned in 24 years in the business?
I have learned that Oklahoma has the Best DOT to work with. A true friendly State to the working man. I have learned that life is no longer about a handshake, that generation is gone. I have learned to Pay it forward, to donate to cities that allow me to run a successful business by donating to City Parks, and City Growth. I have learned to listen. I have learned to be Humble. I have learned to keep learning or be left behind. Most of all, I have learned how to read People and get the” YES” answer. And finally that, sometimes the easiest way to a sales gain is to limit the waste on monthly expense. The old saying ” A penny saved is a penny earned still applies.
How have you grown?
We have paid up to 85x the monthly to hand select a few of our newest purchases from other companies. Although that’s a high price to pay, as long as its making money,  its adding additional value to the Inventory of our Company. Gone are the days of feeling like I need to build a Billboard every where, to me its only about the good rentable locations. Out of the 200 faces we run 97% Full. Our best years believe it or not was the recession. We never lost a beat. We have continued in Growth in receivables since 93. I still have clients that were with me from Day One in 1993.
