Billboard advertising works.  Watch this 2 minute video in which The Wall Street Journal’s Rolfe Winkler interviews Henrique Dubugras, CEO of the startup Brex about his $300,000 Bay Area billboard buy.

Winkler: How many of you know this billboard…An investor I was speaking to said this was the best investment he’d ever seen in a billboard because that helped you get your $1.1 billion valuation.

Dubugras: Honestly, I think it was the best investment because it got us a lot of customers…We started asking customers how did you hear about Brex.  A big percentage said billboards so our actual cost of acquisition with this was very low because it’s very cheap to get these billboards.  People don’t realize how cheap it is to get billboards today…we spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on facebook and google.  We didn’t get a tenth of the customers we got with billboards…
