Auburn, Mass Selectmen approve two digital signs

“I think it’s great for the Auburn Mall, I think it’s great for the town, I think it’s going to be a great thing all around,” – Auburn Selectmen Chairman Kenneth Holstrom quoted in the Telegram after unanimous approval of two, two-sided digital billboards.

The Telegram reports that the Auburn Mass selectmen have approved a zoning bylaw amendment to permit the erection of two 2-sided digital signs at the Auburn Mall.  Total Outdoor will construct and operate the signs.  The billboards employ a siteline LED technology to reduce light polution.  The town will generate a fee of $250,000 for the first five years lease payments at closing plus $50,000/year in lease payments thereafter.

Insider’s take: A digital billboard generates funds for a Massachusetts town and promotes an downtown development project.
