Atlanta Braves Marquee Digital Boards

If you’ve driven by the Atlanta Braves new stadium you’ve seen a couple marquee signs which publicize Brave games and carry advertising for Braves sponsors.  Insider asked Matt Schulze of Selective Structures about the signs.

Tell us about the structures

There are two structures.  The sign on I-75 is 115 feet tall.  The sign on I-285 is 52 feet tall on the side of a hill.  Total face size is 42′ x 48′ and the digital face size is 24’x48’.  Panasonic provided the digital signs.

Any surprises in the installation

Not really.  We had to move 20,000 cubic yards of earth to access the shorter sign.

The Braves Architect gave us a conceptual design . Our scope of work included the following:

  • permitting
  • locating for visibility
  • site prep and surveying
  • fabricating
  • installation
  • electrical.

J-Mar Craneworks (Marcus Hardin) made the installation look easy. The same can be said for  Georgia Sign and lighting (Charles Smith) on the fiber and electrical work.

Have you built Marquees for sports teams in the past ?

We have built several: Met Life Stadium (Jets- Giants ) together with Daktronics; the Georgia Dome (Atlanta Falcons)  for CBS Sports Marketing which is now Outfront Media Sports.   I believe marquee structures are the future of this business .
