Arizona Senate Committee Kills Digital Billboard Expansion

On Tuesday the Arizona State Senate Committee on Commerce and Workforce Development voted down a measure to expand areas in the state where illuminated billboards would be allowed according to azdailysun.  A similar bill had passed the Arizona State house.  The committee members were concerned about the impact of additional billboards on the state’s astronomy industry.  Lamar, which was the chief proponent on the bill, had proposed to reduce in half the amount of land on which digital signs would be permitted in a last ditch attempt to preserve the bill.
